Why we exist
To make life as a prepper much easier. The best preparedness content is scattered across dozens of channels and platforms — and the useful stuff tends to get buried by whatever's loudest that week.
So we've put it all in one place. Cockroach is a single home for the best prepper content — water, food, energy, medical, shelter, communications, and more — organized into categories you can browse like a library, not a feed.
And we keep it fresh. The latest videos and new creators are added every day, so there's always something worth coming back for.
What we are
- An editorial index. Every creator listed here was reviewed by a human.
- Embed-only. Videos play from their original source (YouTube, LBRY/Odysee, Rumble, creators' own sites, etc). We don't mirror, we don't re-host. We always give credit. Every video on Cockroach names its creator and links back to the platform they posted it on. The recognition — and the traffic — goes to them. If a creator or a platform pulls their content, it disappears from Cockroach too.
- Free hosting for curated creators. If we feature your channel, you'll never get a bill from us and we'll never put pre-roll ads on your work.
- LBRY-friendly. When a creator publishes to LBRY/Odysee, we link to that version preferentially. The link tends to stay valid over the long run, and it plays in any browser. Why we care about LBRY →
What we're not
- Not a platform. We're a directory. You can't upload to Cockroach. Comments and accounts are deliberately absent.
- Not an algorithm. Nothing on the site is personalized based on your watch history. There is no watch history — we don't track it.
- Not your data broker. No accounts, no email walls, no third-party trackers beyond the bare minimum hosting analytics.
Removing a video
Because we embed rather than host, the original source controls every video. If you'd like a video removed, go to the original source and request a takedown there if you feel it's necessary. Once it's removed from the source, it's automatically removed from Cockroach.
Why the “Cockroach” name?
The goal of preparedness is resilience — to still be here ‘on the other side.’ Cockroaches have been resilient, and on the other side, for around 300 million years. That makes ‘Grit,’ our mascot, the perfect fit.
