Where to send it
Email takedown@cockroach.media with the subject line that best fits:
[DMCA]— copyright owner asking us to de-index their work[CREATOR-REMOVE]— you're the creator and you want your channel/video dropped from our index[REPORT]— content we link to is broken, harmful, or mis-categorised[LEGAL]— court orders, law-enforcement requests, anything that needs counsel-level handling
What to include (so we can act quickly)
- The full Cockroach URL of the page you want addressed (e.g.
cockroach.media/c/<creator>/<video>). - For DMCA: identification of the copyrighted work, your relationship to the work, and a statement that the use is not authorised.
- For creator-removal: any reasonable proof that you are the creator (link from your verified channel, matching email domain, signed message from your LBRY/Odysee channel, etc.).
- Your contact email and (for legal notices) your physical address.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, under penalty of perjury (DMCA only).
What happens after you send
- Within 1 business day: we acknowledge receipt.
- Within 7 business days:we make a decision and either remove the content from our index or respond explaining why we believe removal isn't required.
- Edge cases:for ambiguous DMCA or jurisdictional questions, we may pause longer to get counsel input. We'll let you know if that's happening.
What we cannot do
Cockroach doesn't host video. We can de-index a URL from our editorial catalogue, but we can't make content disappear from YouTube, LBRY, Odysee, or any other third-party host. For that, you'll need to contact the platform that's actually hosting the file.
